Dear saints of Living Faith, at the bottom of this page there is a copy of the calendar for the week of Palm Sunday-Easter Sunday. Below I have written out some of the details of my thinking/heart to the calendar. It’s different than the Spring Calendar that we’ve done up to this point. This week has a more focused approach with the goal of being very mindful of Jesus and his life, death and resurrection. I like to think of this week as a chance to walk together with our Lord. The last few years I have done this with my fellowship and it has been a really wonderful experience. I hope you will join us.

With great expectation,
Pastor Victor

Daily Reading

Each day there is one passage to read which walks us through the life of Jesus. The plan tries to keep in step with what he might have been doing that day from the gospel of John (for example, on the night of communion [Wednesday] we will read what Jesus taught his disciples at the last supper, etc).

Evening Prayer

Every evening at 8pm we will pause for a time of prayer (however short/long you want). But the powerful idea is that everyone will be praying at the same time each day. I love that amazing picture!

Special Things

Wednesday - Communion at 7:30pm – a time of remembrance of the life of our Lord, Jesus the Messiah.

Saturday - Fasting. Starting after dinner on Friday till breakfast on Sunday I want to offer our family a chance to draw near to God and unite our hearts, minds and bodies with the sufferings of Christ. When I refer to fasting, I firstly speak of it in the traditional sense, abstaining from food. Fasting is an incredible practice which illustrates a seriousness in which one will see the LORD. In Scripture, serious times of prayer and seeking of the LORD were accompanied by fasting by the people of the land. We don’t go but a few hours on most days eating instead of spending that time preparing, eating, and cleaning our food, we devote that time to prayer, worship, being mindful of the LORD’s presence, etc. We will use this time to seek the LORD for freedom from our idols and to be mindful of the suffering of the son of God during this time for our sins. I don’t know about you, but it is challenging for me to go without eating for too long between meals, but when I have committed to fast, something amazing happens. Even when fasting for 24 hours, you will be amazed at how the LORD can sustain you during this time with His power.

However, please do not feel pressured into doing this. If you do not feel like this is something you can, should, or want to do, perhaps you will consider “fasting” from something that has a hold upon your soul and you want to break free from. Maybe it’s the television, internet, or your cell phone. Consider putting that on the altar for the day.

Here’s the heart behind why we will fast on this Saturday. Centuries ago, on this day, Jesus was in the grave, dead. Nothing happened in his life. He was dead! This always blows my mind to think about. I have come to understand the suffering on the cross and the resurrection, but only recently been touched by the fact that Jesus was dead in the grave. On this Saturday, through fasting, we will be very mindful of the sacrifice of the Lord, by uniting our lives with his suffering….only to…come together the next day to rejoice that the suffering ended, forevermore.

Sunday - Morning Prayer & Break-fast - for anyone interested, we will gather at the firepit before sunrise (6am) and rejoice that our Lord arose that morning as we watch the sun come up together. For any who join us, we’ll have breakfast together to break the fast from the day before. This is certainly not a required part of our Easter Sunday service, but is a special time, especially for those who will be eating again for the first time. If you plan to come for breakfast, we need to know by Wednesday, March 27.

Sunday - Easter Service - 10am – a grand and proper day of celebration and rejoicing in Jesus’ resurrection

Ever wanted to dig in deeper to the things of Scripture but not know where to start? Do you want to enhance your Bible reading time? This two part series is devoted to simple ways to help believers grow in their love and understanding of the Scriptures and provide them with some tools to discover truth on their own. Whether you’re a new believer or have been at it for a while, this short class is aimed to benefit and bless all.

We discuss:

How do I understand difficult passages?

What are some good Bible tools to utilize?

What are some key terms to understand?

Why are some words capitalized or italicized in my Bible?

Which translation should I use?

and more!

The overall aim of Bible Night is to know the God who is it’s author: to understand his character, his heart, and his commands, all to the end of bringing him glory in our lives!

This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations and then the end will come. [Matthew 24:14]

Support the Lord’s work through Pastor Charlie Doherty as he and his team travel to India to speak the gospel and minister to the saints there. Their current trip has them traveling from October 4th-30th.

The first way that you can help is by praying. Pastor Charlie has noted that in the past he could feel the prayers of his family back home during his time in India. Pray for their travel, safety, and strength. Pray for spiritual discernment, wisdom and empowerment. Pray for their hearers to have prepared hearts and open ears.

The second way you can help is by supporting their work financially. The cost of the trip has been covered and now any donations they receive will be used to help them minister to the people in India and prepare for the building of an orphanage for the many orphans that are cared for by their contact in India, Pastor Salmon. God has already blessed this work by providing on the ground in India a place to build.
